GSTH Forum Treasure Hunt 2012

To help us through the metal detecting "off-season" of winter, I have decided to conduct a treasure hunt to search for a hidden token/medallion that can be turned in at the next GSTH meeting for a prize.

I will start posting clues here in this thread on February 1st. The hunt will be open to anyone who wants to participate.

Here are the basic rules of the hunt:

1. The cache (an Altoids tin container holding the token and prize slips) is hidden in a park within the twin cities metro area. The general area of which should be obvious within the first few clues.

2. You will not need any tools, shovels, metal detectors or other equipment to retrieve the container. All that will be neccessary is your mental faculties, oculars, bipedal mode of transportation and phalanges, with or without gloves.

3. The cache is immediately close to a path or trail, it will not be buried, on the ground, in the woods or fauna. It will be visible (although not obvious)from at least from some angle. You will not need to remove, open or uncover anything in order to see it. It will not be in any building.

4. Do not trespass or go into any unauthorized areas. Only go into parks during posted hours. You will not need to disturb anything to retrieve, get at, or see the token container. Be respectful to other park patrons and staff.

5. To redeem your prize bring the token to the next GSTH meeting. If you find the token please leave the container in it's hiding spot so others may find it and retrieve one of the secondary prize slips. If you find the container and someone has already retrieved the token, take one of the slips to redeem for a secondary prize.

6. The token or prize slips may be turned in for prizes at the next GSTH membership meeting in February:
When: Tue, February 21, 7pm – 9pm
Where: Eagles Club - 563 8th Ave N.W.,New Brighton, MN

7. Prizes will be announced along with the first clue on February 1st. Additional rules may be added at any time at my sole discretion. Watch this thread for additional news and information.

8. Good luck to all and enjoy!

Clue # 1

Ramsey would have gone here first
in later days if he had thirst.

As you walk upon the trail
you may be met by dogs or frail.

***A bonus clue will be handed out to any that come to the Mcdonalds breakfast, Just north of hwy 36 on Rice St., this Saturday at 8:30 a.m. and join in a little off season treasure hunting talk and socializing

Anyone who finds it please do not post the location here, and please leave the tin where you found it so others have a chance to find it and take one of the prize coupons out

I would however like a private pm letting me know the token itself has been found

ENJOY! it is great weather for such endeavors!

from this highest point so close to St. Paul proper.

With treasure so close to this starting gate

Note:
If you find the tin and it is empty of prize coupons, retrieve the tin and bring it to the meeting, it will work as a prize coupon. Also post here that you have retrieved it so all know the hunt is over.

Hank, does that mean you found the treasure and you are saying you were the last one so you took the tin with you?
I wasn't sure if you are saying that or not... I'm not much of a poet. Haha
